North Macedonia

A small, landlocked nation in the Western Balkans with roughly 2 million people — rich in cultural and religious complexity.

Albanians make up 30% of the population, concentrated in the western region including Tetovë. They nearly all identify as Muslim — a heritage rooted in centuries of Ottoman rule where Islam is deeply woven into cultural identity.

"Trust-based relationships are the essential first step toward any meaningful spiritual conversation."

The Menga Family

The Mengas

Gregor and Kela Menga are artists, educators, and missionaries who have given their lives to reaching the Albanian Muslim world. Gregor grew up in communist Albania, came to faith as a refugee in Greece, and felt an undeniable call to return to his people.

Ten years ago, that call brought them to Tetovë — where the Shift Center was born. Together, they build relationships, create art, and open doors for the Gospel in a community where traditional ministry simply wouldn't work.

The Next Generation

Benjamin, a classically trained violinist, is stepping fully into missionary life. Samuel contributes faithfully at the Center. Their oldest, Joseph, is an expert piano teacher and composer in the US.

A Fellowship Built on Trust

The Shift Center is a fellowship and community center reaching Albanian Muslims through arts, education, and authentic relationship.

Because "Church" and "Christian" carry negative connotations here, the Shift Center engages the community through what it loves — music, theater, philosophy, and shared Albanian history — creating a space where trust is built and the Gospel can be shared.

On Muslim Television: This past Easter, Gregor was invited onto a local Muslim TV station to explain Christianity and the meaning of Easter — a remarkable open door in a culture where such conversations rarely happen publicly.

The Confessions
of St. John

Years ago, Gregor discovered the script for a powerful one-man theatrical production telling the story of the Apostle John — translated it into Albanian, and carried the vision for years before bringing it to life.

In 2025 alone, the monodrama was performed 22 times across the region, bringing the Gospel to audiences who would never enter a church. The lead actor, a Muslim, has become a treasured friend and partner in the production — a living testament to what happens when art and calling converge.
